Jan Bonawentura Ostrowski

For more than five decades, Jan Bonawentura Ostrowski has created worlds that exist somewhere between reality and imagination. Trained in both sculpture and painting, his practice spans painting, graphic art, and sculpture, bringing a strong sense of form and space to his distinctive visual language.

Since beginning his painting practice in the 1970s, Ostrowski has exhibited internationally, with works shown in Milan, Paris, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Saint-Tropez, Vancouver, Bonn, and beyond.

His paintings offer an escape from the noise and complexity of everyday life. Mysterious figures, musicians, animals, and dreamlike characters inhabit luminous spaces where reality gives way to fantasy. Rich yellows and reds, glowing light, and carefully constructed compositions create a sense of warmth, serenity, and timelessness.

At the heart of Bonawentura’s work is the idea of another world, one that feels both unfamiliar and strangely recognizable. His paintings invite the viewer to enter that space, slow down, and rediscover a sense of imagination, wonder, and harmony.
